DONATE

Do you have resources that you would like to donate to advance the mission of CAGS Backpackers? If so, please refer to the below information to help you assess where your donation will be best served.

Equipment

Equipment is the biggest barrier of entry for our girls. Equipment can be very expensive and yet, the most important component of any backpacking trip.

Councils, interest groups, and individual troops all have the potential to accept backpacking equipment donations. If you have backpacking equipment you would like to donate, please reach out to any of our member groups or your local Girl Scout council. Expensive items that are commonly needed include:

  • Backpacks sized for girls 9-18 years old

  • Backpacking stoves

  • Water purifiers

  • Group backpacking tents

  • Sleeping pads

  • Sleeping bags

  • Bear canisters

Money

Monetary donations may be made to our national organization, Girl Scouts of the United States of America, or directly to your local council. Gifts made to the national organization can be earmarked for outdoor programming; councils may vary.

If you have a transformative gift you would like earmarked for backpacking or outdoor programming, we encourage you to be in touch with your local council; local councils deliver the Girl Scout program directly to girls and will be able to inform you if your gift can be utilized in the manner you intend.

CAGS Backpackers maintain that equipment is the biggest barrier of entry for many of our girls. If you are dedicated to having your donation go directly to backpacking programs, equipment donations are the best way to guarantee your funds are utilized to serve the most girls. Please feel free to contact any of our member groups or use our contact form to ask for guidance on equipment purchases and where to donate.
